A Sleepover.

It's been a while since I posted a page here.  I've been doing more blogging and playing about with textures in PSE than actually making scrapbook pages. However, here's one I've just completed.

Gw&N10thDec10-copyblog

This page tells the story of how George and Nicholas stayed overnight with us on Friday, or as Nicholas kept saying, they had a sleepover.  William had gotten the tree out of the loft and it and the decorations were ready waiting for them to set about.  And boy did they ever set about their task.  I couldn't keep up with them both.  It was like a tornado had hit the house!  Come bath-time and bedtime though they both settled down nicely and were absolutely no trouble.

I have used: Festive Song Papers by Anna Aspnes, the Little Groceria Tag and Jolly Good Edgers No.3 by Katie Pertiet all at Designer Digitals.  The template is Storyboard Freebie by Kristen Rice.

Bolton Abbey

William, Caroline, Charlie and I all spent a day in the Yorkshire Dales just recently.  We chose the day well. The weather was perfect - blue skies, crisp, dry and not too cold.

For this page I used the April Challenge Digi Do-able Template from A Cherry on Top; Editorial Inspiration 11.22.09, clipping mask from Katie Pertiet; The two paper leaves from Katie Pertiet; background paper is from the  Everyday Papers set at Oscraps.com and lastly the two little tags are Lil Bits Tags another Katie Pertiet design.  All but the little tags were freebies!

George at Seven.

George is very photogenic and it’s easy to take a good photo of him… that is, if he’s relaxed and not in a giddy mood, if that’s the case then maybe not so easy.  Anyway this day a week or so ago I caught him watching the telly and he wasn’t paying me any attention so I snapped away.

There was a problem though, this photo was my favourite and it turned out to be blurred!

However, with Photoshop Elements and a Shadowhouse Creations texture it turned out fine.

I’m happy with this page.  I like to blend a photo into the background and in this layout I think  George blowing his cornet was just the right one.

I used Cinzia Loosemore’s Thankful For You Kit here, with the exception of the grey background which is a Katie Pertiet paper.  Thankful For You is a huge, gorgeous kit for autumn and it includes the Alpha too.  Her designs can be found at www.oscraps.com.

The template is a great Polly & Rufus Designs freebie found at www.mscraps.com.

Nicholas the Nursery Schoolboy.

Nicholas started nursery school this month.  He’s only three but he’s ready for it.  This little fella is all there with his cough drops and needs an outlet for all the energy he’s got pent up inside that  little head and body.

NurseryNicholasw

Here’s the page I’ve made to remember this event.  I’ve used a new kit I’ve just acquired.  It’s a fantastic freebie, a huge collaborative kit from the designers at Sugarhillco.com/blog.

I’m really enjoying scrapping just now, even though  I do tend to be a slow scrapper.  My main reason for that is I now have so much stock to chose from and I suffer from indecisivenes!  I will admit it’s not a bad problem though.

Ciao.

September in Devon.

Well, we've had our last holiday of 2010 down in Devon.  We had a great week and this page tells the story of what we got up to down there.

I've been wanting to use this template, a freebie (nothing unusual there then), since April.  It's another design by Katie Pertiet at Designer Digitals, she is one very productive woman.  It's quite a simple template but very effective I think.  The only embellishment is the white flower stem, a brush, from Cinzia Loosemore's, Thankful For You Kit.

Summer 2010

Photos of Charlie from our recent holiday in Devon.

The pebbly background is a photograph of the pebbles on Budleigh Salterton beach.  I'd much rather have the pebbles than sand any day although I'm sure Charlie doesn't feel the same way.

For this layout I used a template from Made to Remember LT Book by Katie Pertiet, Designerdigitals.com; the background paper and shells are from Tranquility Mini Kit by Karah Fredericks at Oscraps.com another one of their great freebies.

At the Library

I took the boys to the library yesterday.  Not an event of great import but scrapbooking is about the everyday things as well as the big things in life.

This is a very simple layout, the background page barely shows up on the white background.  I'll bear that in mind and next time I'll put a frame around a white background in PSE.  A lot of scrappers use this kind of template in "A Page A Day" books.  The template I used is Blueprints No.1 by Paislee Press Designs and the background paper is from One Sweet Thing kit by Kitty Designs both at Oscraps and both freebies.  I love all the freebies you can get, digital designers are so generous!

George's 7th Birthday Page

George was seven years old on the 8th of this month.  I clearly remember my 7th birthday - I didn't want it to happen.  I must have been happy being six and thought maybe that being seven would spoil things.  Funny the things that bother children isn't it?

Anyway, George had no such problems.  He looks forward to each birthday practically from the day after the last one!

I used one of my favourtie kits for this layout - Birthday Magic by Kitty Designs at Oscraps.  I think it's the banner, I really love that Happy Birthday banner!  Other stuff used: the template is With Love By Mushy by Little Dreamer Designs (freebie), Block Alpha by Katie Pertiet at Designer Digitals (freebie), Cupcake by Kimds Designs at Oscraps (freebie) and another freebie the Metal Mesh elements by Kim Liddiard at Digital Scrapbook Place.

Oops a Daisy!

One of the things two year old Charlie has been doing this summer is run around and then pretend to fall, just like a professional football player does.  I had my camera handy and caught him in action just recently.  Here's my page recording this for posterity.

The kit, i.e. the colourful background and elements, is once again Lil Layette by Katie Pertiet at Designer Digitals.com.  I'm really getting my money's worth out of this kit.  The template is by Kstudio, yet another freebie, at Catscrap.com.

A couple of weeks ago ...

... I took Nicholas to the canal where we had a picnic lunch.  It was a gorgeous day.  I took lots of pics of him and made this scrapbook page from just a couple of them.

I love the photo blended into the layers look.

The kit, Hey Boy by Ondesigns at After Five Designs, was on clearance sale at 75% off the original price which made it only $1.50.  Apart from being a freebie, kits don't come much cheaper than that!  And, of course, I can use all these elements and papers time and time again.  Also used June Template by Tinytoes Designs at Catscrap.com

My Header

Credits:-   Papers - kevinandamanda.com, the chalkboard is from Ondesigns at After Five Designs as are some of the  elements, also Re-creation 23 Add-on is a newsletter freebie from Creative Designs and last but not least the cupcake is another freebie Kimds Designs at Oscraps.com.

I have to say there are tons of freebies out there from some very talented and very generous designers, you just have to scour the digital scrapbook websites and look for them.

Charlie again.

Charlie was playing in the garden in the sunshine.  I took picture after picture of him
and I just loved his expression in this one.

I really am enjoying using this Little Layette Kit by Katie Pertiet.  I love the colours and the elements are just perfect for little boys.  The layered template is another great freebie from Tinytoes Designs at Catscrap.

Sunshiney Day

The weather has been beautiful lately.  Yesterday found us at the beach with the Goodall side of the family.  The Williams' had gone to Knowsley Safari Park for Charlie's birthday treat.  Here's the page I made to remember the sunshine and fun on the beach.

I've used elements and papers from various kits in this layout nearly all of which can be found at Designer Digitals by designer Katie Pertiet.  The layered template is a freebie by K Studio Designs at After Five Designs.

The little sailboats are a nice touch don't you think?

Charlie's 2nd Birthday Page.

Here's Charlie's birthday layout.  I've been loving this kit, Little Layette by Katie Pertiet at Designer Digitals, for some time now.  I kept seeing other people's layouts in the gallery there and couldn't wait to use it. Charlie's second birthday was the ideal occasion for it.  The template is a fantastic freebie by Tinytoes Designs at Catscrap.

I love the way it turned out and will be using it a lot.  By the way don't you think this little boy is cute?  I do!

Heritage Pages

Here are a few of the heritage pages I've been working on recently.

Here are my parents with their first baby, Bernard. If you'd like to read the details clicking on the page will enlarge it.

The above pictures are all of my family and I in the 1950s taken in the country in Ireland, except the two on the ferry of course. We would spend a week in the country i.e. Cloneygowan, Offaly at Uncle Tom's cottage and a week in Finglas, Dublin at my Aunt Mag's house. They were magical holidays and the memories we have of them are priceless. We were very lucky to have these holidays at all, money was not plentiful in our house, we were a big family - 8 kids in total. My mother must have been gifted in the household accounts department is all I can think.
